China are already taking steps to alleviate the petro dollar, pushing for the yuan to be used in world trade.
In answer to your question, no, there is no law saying China can't come out on top, it's more than possible they will, my concern is the company they keep.
If you want the balance of power in the Middle East to shift from Saudi and Israel toward Iran, or Putin to have free reign to advance into Europe, then China is the perfect choice for you.

I'd suggested the loss of a 5,000 order for new planes is a significant chunk of their order book, and will wipe out their backlog of orders.

Airbus landed more orders last year, so both companies are in a highly competitive market.
Such a loss of 5,000 planes ordered, orders that will probably be transferred to Airbus, (France and Netherlands) will be causing much concern.

I didn't say I want China , the Middle East or Iran to come out on top.
Trump likes a deal, if China or any other country for that matter can offer the world a better deal economically,then why shouldn't they come out on top.

Ultimately it will be up to consumers worldwide who they want to deal with.
Tarrifs are a legitimate tool to defend your economy from unfair competitors.
However Trump has weaponised tarrifs to damage the economies of other countries, instead of using them to redress trade imbalances, he is using
them to blackmail other countries to cease trade with China, even if the economies of those countries are also damaged.
