Thermal barrier between cooker and worktop.

Hi guys,

I have installed Zenith worktop and the space between the freestanding Gas cooker and the worktop on both sides is only 10mm. I cannot make this space bigger without the major changes.

Is there any thermal barrier material I can put between the cooker and the worktop, to stop the worktop from melting? Ideally something which will look nice.

Is the worktop higher than the hob? My worktop touches the cooker and the hob is slightly higher.

Oven should be higher than worktop by about 30-40mm if that close .
