I know next to nothing about thermal storage systems but the Electramate 2000 in my new flat behaves in a funny way.
I don't see how I can have the system on, supplying hot water on-demand
as recommended, without having two specific radiators (in the hall and
the bathroom) getting hot. The TP5E thermostat is set to 5C* as advised
in the manual, and indeed the rest of the radiators remain inactive.
However, those two radiators seem to be constantly on and as they are
the only ones without a valve there is no way to isolate them. So,
unless I switch off the whole system, the apartment is kept *very* warm
even when I am away for days and will be so even in the middle of
summer. In fact, it's so hot in here, even now, in November, when I get back from work I run for the balcony door.
The plumber thought the system is designed to be permanently on, even
when the occupant is away for a couple of months, but keeping these two
radiators constantly hot doesn't sound energy efficient, and maintains
an unpleasant room temperature.
Does this sound like normal behaviour? I can't see how wasting energy is a good idea. I really wouldn't like to discover in three months, when I get the next bill, that I've been wasting energy like mad while I was away at work or on holidays!
To complicate things eon's bill claims I am on Economy 7 and on the phone they told me I was on Economy 10. Does changing to Economy 7 involve a physical meter replacement?
Thanks in advance
Michael
