thermocouple keeps packing up

The boiler is a Thorn EMI Apollo 30/50.I must have had at least 6 thermocouples fitted to it,the last one only lasting a fortnight.What could be the reason?
 
COUld be the pilot flame is too big. Cheap thermocouples - no, ALL thermocouples are unpredictable! The Boiler manufacturers' used to be better but the replacement parts are just the cheapies I think.

You can get nickel plated thermocouples from BES which are intended for LPG but should last longer on NG.
