i have a pottertron prt100 i am after changing it to something like a wireless one may be a smart one just not sure of the wireing and the best thermostat
At the moment you have a two wire stat - with a live and a switched live wire, or (extra) low voltage switching, depending on your boiler (unlikely).
All your current thermostat does is join the yellow and red wires together, when there is a call for heat.
For a direct and simple replacement, you could look at a battery operated wireless receiver, something like a Nest thermostat E.
Alternatively (if you do have Live switching), you can investigate where the cable goes.
If you can find a nearby neutral to connect the blue wire to, then any mains operated receiver could be connected.
Well that's even simpler!
Something like a dual channel Hive will be a direct replacement for your UP1. It would even sit on the same backplate and control the hot water.
You would just have to link out the connection to your existing stat.
