Hi guys,

I currently have a combi boiler (6 years old) which feeds my central heating. I don't have any thermostats in the house and I want to change this.

What I am looking for is a 3 zone system.... 2 rooms being able to set the temperature differently each other and/plus the rest of the house being in a single zone. I also want it to be a wireless system.

What equipment do I need for this? I have limited knowledge of plumbing so I will be getting someone to do it but don't want to get ripped off. My understand is that I will need 3 thermostats, 3 motorised valves and some kind of relay system which which it can talk to? Equipment wise I am looking at

3x Honeywell CM927
1x Honeywell RT500RF
3x Honeywell zone valve - http://tinyurl.com/3y69g68 - I m not sure what I need a 2 zone valve or a three valve one?

Are they correct or do I need other stuff?

I think for the two individual rooms they both need a thermostat and a motorised valve but what about the rest of the house? Would one motorised valve cover that other zone or do I have to get it for every radiator?!

Thanks guys,

Ross

Much of what you are looking to do depends on the layout of the pipes feeding the radiators. Is the piping already installed in three separate zones? Segregation is necessary to allow each section section to be switched on and off individually by the motorised valves. Unless this layout was specified at the time of the installation of the radiators, you will have to re-plumb them to suit.

Probably the easiest thing for you to do is fit one room thermostat to your combi. Its location will depend on the layout of your house, but probably in the hallway, with thermostatic radiator valves fitted to all other radiators except the one in the room where the room thermostat is.
