Thermostat?

Hi everyone.

Two really daft questions!!!!
1. We have a digital thermostat on our wall. On our baxi boiler we have a knob with setting 1-6. If you turn the knob to the lower numbers you can bring the heating on. Is this because it also acts as a thermostat and if so, should we have it turned right up so it doesn't override what ever setting the room thermostat is at?
2. Our room themostat is set at 19c, we did try lowering it to 18c but it took nearly all evening before the digital thermostat dropped the 1c to turn it on. Is this normal? I thought as the rooms felt cooler then quite quickly the thermostat would show a drop in temperature. Maybe 1c for a digital thermostat is fairly significant.

Hope the above makes sense, any help much appreciated.

Cheers Zeb.

The boiler stat will affect how hot the actual radiators feel. Set it as low as you can but so its still able to heat your home.

18 and 19 degrees is quite cool. Is your room stat in the hallway?

If it was 18/19 degree's outside you would wear a T-shirt, how hot do you have yours Rob.

yes, the room thermostat is next to the front door (doesn't seem like the best place!).
Am I best to keep the boiler turned up, so the room thermostat is always in control?

sorry Rob didn't read your reply properly. The only problem with having the boiler turned down is it switches of sometimes before the room thermostat has told it to!?
