the safety trip switch on my cylinder stat keeps popping out and thus not giving me hot water, is there a solution to this ????
thanx

You need a multimeter to check this. Replacing the stat bit is easy once you have safely isolated the mains to it. It usually just pulls out of the dry pocket in the immersion heater. 2 wires only to remove then replace.

thanks dave, is it just the electrics that need isolated, there seems to be a 22mm pipe from the cylinder, is this just a sleeve or do i need to isolate the water as well ??? thanks mate

my advice is to get an engineer to have a look, from your questions you are clearly not competent to go poking around in an immersion heater.
Electricty is extremely dangerous

i am actually very compitent, maybe not in this field but i have managed to build, renovate and develop over 40 properties, just would like to tackle this task myself and fact finding as much as i can before i have a go... i'm sure you didn't learn your trade in a day.

To remove the immersion stat only there is no need to isolate or drain any of the water side of the cylinder.
