Ive currently got a bath shower with a combined bath / shower mixer with a hot and cold tap and a push-pull change over valve which proberbly needs replacing and im wondering what my options are.

I would like a thermostatic mixer, but I dont really want to have to chase out the wall to fit a dedicated shower valve and then have to find some tiles to repair the tiling afterwards.

I have seen several manual mixers (as per the ony below) which is proberbly a compromise over a two-tap system.

There are many combined bath/shower mixers available some only has thermostatic control on the shower side not bath some has thermostatic control on both bath/shower.

Mira excel is an example.

Thats what I wanted the hear, a mira excell is a little more than I was planning to pay but the hunt continues.

I got a Pegler "Applause" on eBay for £125 (new in box) not so long ago, which works well... once I'd removed the ridiculous maximum temperature restrictor which limited the maximum hot water temperature to rather less than my wife insists on

Thermostatic control is on both bath and shower. Annoyingly, I find I have to explain how to use it to some guests though, as there are essentially 3 controls which need to be twiddled to use it.

The termotap and mida 200 are a bit pricy but the Mira and the Midas100 for £150/160 look good to me.
Proberbly go for the mira over the aqualisa although ive never have issue with eather. All of Grome's range appear to be wall mounting not bath mounting which rules them out unless i can pick up a pair of the 90deg bases on there own.

Read the small print (what's not included, damaged packaging, they don't want to know about warranty claims) then decide if you're happy to take the risk.

Paying by PayPal does get you a lot of protection from rogue sellers though, and I've had three full refunds from them over the last 3 months when stuff didn't show up and the seller didn't reply to e-mails (even though seller had excellent feedback).
