Thick Power Cable Running Up The Outside Wall - What Is It?

Are you sure it's going from the fuse box to the loft? Could be coming the other way and it's your feed ... Could be going to a neighbour who's using your electricity. Or vice versa.

Need to see what type of cable it is

you need to have a look inside the consumer unit

TURN THE MAIN SWITCH OFF FIRST

and you'll pobably be able to see that the cable terminates onto one of the CPDs in there. The CPD should be marked with something useful like

"Shower"
or
"Spliff farm supply"
or
"Supply to Lift Mechanism" etc

Take a picture of the inside and outside of the consumer unit. We'll be asking for that too
