Thickness of plasterboard

Hi

I've currently got some lattice walls in my hallway, or atleast I think they are called lattice, when you have thin pieces of wood running across the studwork and then plastered over?

Anyway the plasters all blown so I'm going to rip it all down, take the lattice out and replace with plasterboard, but are there any regs as to which size plasterboard I should use? I'd prefer the 9.5mm because the hallway is quite narrow anyway, but I've got a feeling I've been told in the past that I should use 12.5mm on walls and 9.5mm on ceilings?

I'm also going to insulate in-between for heat / sound purposes.

it would be prudent to use 12.5mm boards as they are stronger thus allowing them to take more knocks.

they offer marginally better fire resistance too.

are slightly better at noise transfer reduction.

i will only us 9.5mm boards where tolerances are tight.
