The sensor that is heated by the pilot light has broken.
Where can I find a replacement?

This is a copper (?) tube that connects between the pilot light jet housing and the ignition 'box'.
 
the thermocouple i assume you mean :?:

GC No 39-11-12.

a universal one will fit
 
Thermocouple? Yes that sounds about right. It's a bullet-shaped probe that pushes into the pilot-light housing and the other end has a gland nut where it enters the gas-valve(?) housing.
I'll be relieved if it's a universal design. We're due to replace the whole boiler system - but not just yet . . .

For the sake of a nail the shoe was lost, for the sake of a show the horse was lost, for the sake of a horse the battle was lost . . .
