My boiler is working perfect and very reliable, but is using alot of gas, It is using 6 units of gas over the period of 6 hours a day. Had it serviced recently and the person who did it said he has set it at 16.00 MBAR. since this it seems to have gone crazy on gas. The guy reccomended us to get a combi boiler which would be more economical. Any suggestions please, thanks

burner pressure can be set lower than 16mbar but you would need a manometer to make sure its correct, pump is usually ok on 2

Gas is expensive these days. Use it sparingly. Keep your boiler stat as low as you can get away with.
Im sure that boiler is range rated ie you can set it to different outputs as stated. A manometer and corgi guy are needed.
Fit TRVs, Comtrols and insulation. Save money!
Your pump needs to be on as low a setting as you can get away with. An example of assumed running costs might be.
Speed 1 £20 per year
Speed 2 £40 per year
Speed 3 £60 per year

But which Units does your gas meter measure, cubic metres or cubic feet? It will be on the meter.

Why did the service engineer increase the gas pressure - which increases the boiler output? Did you say that the house was not getting hot enough?

Your boiler can go as low as 13.1mb, but the output will reduce.
