On each occasion when the boiler ignites and is burning, there is a regular popping sound/banging sound similar to but much louder than heating a pot of fairly thick soup (- like the Cream of ----varieties). the soup makes a popping sound as pockets of localised heat burst upwards through the otherwise cooler mass. I am interested in knowing if other users of this type of boiler have encountered this. the heat exchange does not appear to be problematic. The heating System is serviced annually by Scottish Gas and has been done for 15 years. Could the problem be due to any build-up of sediment within the Heating System, which perhaps produces the popping/banging sounds.
The Heating Engineers maintain it is not a safety issue but invariably state that the boiler should be replaced with one of the more efficient new Systems, because the age of the existing one means that parts will not be available if it should break-down.
Advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
