What is the best fix for hairline cracks appearing in newly plastered wall and ceilings?

I painted some new ceilings in Polycell crack free ceiling paint (three coats after two mist coats) and lo and behold six months later a crack appears :(
 
Wait another 6 months, so the plaster has been through all 4 seasons, then scrape out the small cracks and fill them.

I find plasterboard joining compound to be very good. Its very easy to sand smooth
