Our Central heating/hot water is misbehaving - the radiators are getting hot with the hot water on.

I have got as far as working out that it is a problem with the three way Honeywell valve and that when set to Hw only the lever on the side is floppy (I read it was supposed to have some resistance).

Does the whole valve need changing or is there anything servicable inside?

The lever on the side is not really and indication as to whats happening in the valve.Depending on the age of the valve you can replace the head or the body separately.Either the valve is letting by due to debris on valve seating or the spindle is seizing. The head mechanism can also seize causing the same symptoms.Parts are available as spares but for £60 or so you can get a new one.Fitting is simple drain and swap over.
