Three way valve replaced- RCD tripping

the pump could have blown when switchin the power on and off. causing rcd to trip. its happened to me b4. u can test this by disconnecting wires from pump and switch on power.(make sure wires are moved to safe position) if it doesnt trip then the pump needs replaced. Same princible with all the other controls i.e clock, boiler,3port valve, etc..

what you can see of the wiring it looks all ok and right wires in the connector block.
as said try disconnecting the pump live etc. brown wire on the end.

Guy came back this morning, first thing he did was to disconnect the valve and it still tripped. Im assuming hes going to be testing each of the different parts the same way to track down the problem.

I spoke to a few people who he has done work for and Im a lot more confident in his ability now. It didnt help that my wife exaggerated what he had told her and gave me the false impression he was going to start pulling up floorboards the second he arrived.

Im at work now but Im hoping he will track down the problem.

Its looking like its a problem with the actuator on the new valve. He can get the hot water working by bypassing something or other, its just the central heating part thats not working now.

Apparently the whole system did work for about 20 minutes after they fitted the new valve last week which threw him slightly when trying to troubleshoot things this time.

I think the main lesson I learned from all this is not to rely on my wife to relay any information like this accurately.

I think most boiler engineers have experience of that problem!
