Hello, im tidying up some electrical work in my garage and have a few questions. There is a cable coming from a socket which feeds a thermostat, I want to change this to a fused spur, would a 3amp fuse be used here?. Also to do this i would need to join the cable in an inaccessible space, is crimping the best way to go here or is there any better method?

Thanks

Do you know what a fused spur is and what they are used for? The fuse you use is determined by the appliance connected to it and the cable used. A 3A fuse would be no good for an electric heater for example.

Crimping is the best method for inaccessible joints, but soldering is also an option.

Yes i know. The cable is just providing power to the wall mounted CH thermostat, so would a 3amp fuse be the norm here?

Thanks
