Tile above upstand - gap or not?

Tiling above my upstand...

Do I need to leave a silicone gap between the upstand and the tile, or just butt the tile up to the upstand?

Are they different depth?

the upstand is 12.5mm thick and the tile is 8mm but i will have adhesive behind obviously.
