tile adhesive

I am removing tiles from my kitchen and I am going to wallpaper the walls, and would like to know if there is an easy way to remove the old tile adhesive first

If it was an acrylic (ready mixed) adhesive warm water or a wall paper stripper will soften it and you will be able to scrape it off. If it was cement based (powdered) then there is no easy way
