Question from a newbie, properly stumped as to options on some flooring so thought would ask for advice. Been getting different feedback from high street and tile businesses.

We have been building a new house for what feels like a lifetime, we're now at the stage of flooring and one particular item on our wish list was a kitchen with bi-folding doors where by the indoors and outdoors looked seamless when the doors are open. The doors are fitted with a flush track, but now we're struggling with the flooring.

The "boss" (wife) wants a dark grey floor, prefers polished look, therefore can anyone suggest any tile/paver/stone suitable for both indoors and outdoors ? Wouldn't polished be slippery? I thought of silver granite stone but been told not so suitable for indoors. Also thought of polished concrete, though told it cracks, so seemingly going round in circles with the builders chasing for floor requirements. We do have underfloor heating in kitchen.

Any suggestions really appreciated ;) :)

polished looks lovely, but yes it will be slippy outside.

One popular item is slate, especially large format 60x40 or above. the riven finish helps provide slip resistance. some limestone works too.

Other than that some good quality porcelain would suit you down to the ground. again for the outside you'll really need something with a bit of a riven finish.

Dunno if that helps as a hint, if you want some specific ideas post the colour you'd like, the area and pm me your email address
