Tiles on greasy plaster

Hi All
Going to tile and redec kitchen this week. Potential problem is that behind cooker plaster is greasy from cooking fat / splashes.
will sugar soaping thorouly be good enough to give adhesive a chance to "stick"

Depends how thick the grease is, might be best to scrape most of it with a blade then use turps or white spirit to remove any grease left, sugar soap, clean up then sand it lighty with a orbit sander.
 
thanks Masona - grease is not at scraping stage - lol. so will proceed as suggested
