I would like my new bath to have the side and end panel tiled.
how is this done, taking into account the need to gain access under the bath for leaks in future.

Thanx for any advise in advance

Dont know how the professionals would do it but I did my side panel a couple of years ago.

I built a wooden frame secured to the bath and the floor. I then cut two pieces of plywood to fit along the side of the bath side by side. These were sized so that the join came between two tiles. Note that the plywood should be as thick as possible (from memory mine was about 8mm + as the tiles are very heavy and the weight of them will tend to bend the plywood).

I primed the plywood with PVA and then stuck the tiles on using flexible adhesive. These were then secured to the frame using chrome domed mirror screws. The joint between the two sheets was grouted to hide it - easy to run a blade down if you need to remove the panels.
