I am looking at removing a stainless hob splashback. I have no idea how it is fixed to the wall and any ideas would be welcome. Because of this I wondered if I could just tile over it and if so would ordinary tile cement suffice?

I wouldn't want to tile over it,I've removed one and it was only bonded with grab adhesive.
