I have recently tiled my bathroom floor. As the floor is plasterboard paneling, I sealed the surface before tiling. Unfortunately, several days later, the tiles began to make a crunching sound and the grout began to crumble. As a novice I am not sure why this is happening. Please can you provide any help.

I should presume the "crunching noise" is the plaster board? ideally you should put marine ply down first screwed down every 8 inchesthen fix to this, the grout is coming out because the tiles are moving, soon they will be moving too.

Thanks for the reply.

The floor is actually chipboard and not plasterboard as I previously stated.

Would your answer still apply for chipboard ?

Thanks.

Sounds like you're not using enough floor adhesive. This is important when I say floor adhesive which allow for flexibility
