Need help!!

I want to insulate a wall behind a woodburner which is getting too hot for my liking. What is the best thing to use as an insulation material? Will I be able to tile over it once its in place? Will I need special tile adhesive?

Thanks

I'll be honest and say that I've not done this before, but to get you started, have a look at Knauf Fireshield which is a fire resistant plasterboard. http://manual.knaufdrywall.co.uk/th...k/themanual/cgi-bin/product.cgi?productID=p16
You could stick that to your wall (I'm assuming brick here) with tile adhesive or drywall adhesive. You'll be able to tile the fireshield and the tiles will handle the heat no problem.
The adhesive is about your biggest concern in my opinion. I've had a look at Bal's adhesives and your best bet for higher temperatures is Bal Rapidset. http://www.bal-adhesives.co.uk/bal/bal_products/rapidset.asp This will handle temperatures of 150°C whereas their others seem only to go to 100°C. 150°C should be more than enough for around a woodburner unless you have it very close to the wall.
