Tiling kitchen walls that are out

Our kitchen has been fitted a while but only now getting round to tiling. Where the working surfaces run along one wall, there is a gap of over an inch between the surface and the wall on the left graduating to nothing on the right. How on earth do I tile? Please help somebody if you can?

an inch to nowt, wow! couldn't the fitters scribe it in somehow, at least halving the difference?

you could always plaster the difference out using p.v.a., thistle bonding and multifinish.
