Hi All,

I'm changing the bath and vanity unit in our bathroom which was last done 30 years ago. There are 3 floor tiles which I've taken up as they were loose and have discovered that the tiler tiled directly on top of the floorboards underneath of which is our kitchen ceiling. We've had leaks too. As we'll be putting the house up for sale in a few months I don't want to take up the whole floor. Am I okay to used flexible adhesive and grout like was done originally directly on top of the floorboards (once I've cleaned them up of course) or is there something I can put down first to try and seal the gaps between the boards?

Cheers
Daz

No, you're selling, so get them down and forget about it.
Besides, if the floorboards are solid, the tiles don't move.
I've taken up 40 year old tiles stuck on floorboards and they were perfectly fine.
Modern adhesive doesn't seem to last as long.
