Tiling on top of plywood or mdf

Hi I've panelled a wall using plywood and mdf. I need some advice on how to tile on top of these wood surfaces. Do I need to prepare the surfaces before tiling with tile adhesive or can I just tile straight onto the wood? Thanks

might be an idea to rough up the MDF to get a better fix with the adhesive, but otherwise go straight ahead and tile

give the mdf a coat of primer first. its a very porus material and will soak in the moisture from the grout. What room have you used it in?
