Tiling onto Plasterboard without skim

I've removed some tiles. Is it okay to re-tile onto plasterboard, without the skim on top? Any tips on what I should be doing? Photo attached.

Looks like Paramount board , which is basically 2 faces of Plasterboard filled with an Egg box type centre , includes 38mm square top & bottom rail

unsure re Tiling right on top ... but following though

If its solid with no movement then you can tile directly onto that, make sure its primed with a tiling primer such as mapei primer G.
