Tiling with silicon

This is probably crazy, but some tiles have gone up in the bathroom of my house, which were fixed to the wall using silicon. That was a surprise enough for me, as I'd never heard of that done before, but of course, now there is silicon all over the tiles, dried in.
What would be the best method to remove that excess silicon ahead of grouting the tiles? Thanks a lot.

I would probably try (gently) to take as much as possible off with a window scraper and then go fairly energetically at it with a plastic scraper. I haven't had much luck with the enzymatic paste but it gets some good reviews, I think it's more for the final residue than as an alternative to elbow grease.
