I have got planning passed for a 1st floor extension onto my bungalow. It will consist of 150mm timber frame sitting ontop of the existing brick cavity wall. Building reg drawings have been passed, but ive got a couple of questions.
Can the 150x50 timber frame sit on the external 100mm blockwork, with it hanging over the cavity, unsupported by 50mm? With the floor joists sitting on the inner skin. Or does the cavity need bridging at the top with blockwork or a 300x50 timber plate? Or does the floor joists run to the outside face, sitting on an internal and external timber plate, so the timber frame can sit on the joists?
Any advice would be appreciated.
