Timber or UPVC??

Has anyone had wooden windows installed? People recommend them but all new installations in my road seem to be UPVC. Still cant decide to go for wood or UPVC. Its drivin me nuts!! My house is 1930s with bays.

Wood will easily outlast upvc, upvc windows are not for life as they claimed
