Hi, does anyone know of a timer that allows you to set by the minute rather than 10 minute cycles. I preferably need it to be three channel. A friend of mine runs a public speaking class and he needs something that will automatically switch on a green lamp after 3 minutes, an orange lamp after 5 minutes and a red lamp after 7 minutes to allow the speaker to time his speech, if that makes sense. I bought a horstmann 3 channel clock but its every 10 minutes. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Has he got a laptop that he doesn't need to use while the speaker is speaking?

Powerpoint presentation with timed transitions from an all black screen, to all green, then orange, then red.

Put the laptop where the speaker can see the screen and set the show running.

Good idea. Would save some money too. I just rang him, he says he could do that most weeks but he wouldn't mind having something that he could use when that option isn't available.

Some of that stuff looks expensive Bernard. Not sure how acheivable it is but he was hoping to do it for about 100 quid.Looks like exactly what he needs though.

will be a good core timer if you want to avoid using electronic logic.

Select the gear kit to give a 10 minute cycle time and use the fourth cam switch as the "home" contact. The cams will rotate until that switch opens and then stop. You start the timer with a push button that shorts out that cam to allow the motor to run. The other three cams control the lamps.

Or a PIC processor, a 2803 driver and three relays and a few other components and a few lines of program code.
