Timer switch for electric raditor

Hi, I am fitting a ladder radiator with element to work off electric only. I want to use with a timer. The rad instructions recommend wiring to a 13A fused connection unit. Can I plug into a timer switch with a 13A fuse in the plug instead?
Or, is there an “in-line” timer switch available (to sit alongside a13A fused connection unit)? This would make the whole job look a lot tidier

You can get immserion heater timers that would sit along side, but may look a little unsightly.

You can also get immersion heater timers that fit 'behind' the FCU - let me see if I can dig some pics up...

Hi, cheers for the reply. The rad was delivered yesterday. The flex is short, so now I must have a FCU low on the wall and a timer at eye level. Is there a timer on the market to fit between the feed and the FCU without breaking the bank?

you only need a flex outlet close to the rad. The FCU timer can be elsewhere.

You could have have the combined FCU and timer at eye level and a connection point ( as per cooker outlet ) at floor level.

Word of caution, humidity in the bath room should be prevented from getting along the cable route and into the conection point. If the hall is cold then condensation could occur in the connection point

The combined FCU and timer are a real space saver.

Flex outlet (not a cooker plate) in the bathroom next to the towel rail, fed in 1.5mm from the timed FCU outside, timed FCU fed in 1.5mm from a 10amp MCB, or fed in 2.5mm if spurred from the ring.
