Tips for dealing with builders?

Hi

My husband and I would like to expand our back room and haven't ever really embarked on a project this big before, so are going to call in the professionals.

Just wanted to see if anyone has any tips for dealing with builders in regards to contracts and setting time expectations etc?

Get several quotes and don't go with the cheapest!!!

Ask to see portfolio of their work or to visit a premise they have just completed and speak to customer!! If they're reputable they will not have a problem with this and some may even offer this!!
