Is it possible to disable one sensor in your house by covering it with duct tape? I just need one room where I can leave the cat without it setting off the alarm. Proper disabling sounds way too complicated for me!

I have never tried this but it should work.What is that complicated in disabling PIR, what kind of alarm do you have?

usually works with a bit of tape apart from selotape 
had a job a while back where the chippies taped my PIRs up to stop them chirping and then the painter decided a good dollop of emulsion on them also worked
