One question as a consequence of my recent bathroom refit plan was the necessity for an FCU on some items and not on others. In summary my question is when is an FCU required and not? Does it depend on the load of the specific electrical item or the type?
Certain MI will state that certain fittings require double pole isolation. Your bathroom fan is one of these.
On some items it is unwise (or pointless) to add a FCU.
Also it can depend on what circuit you are connecting to. If you were adding a light to a lighting circuit then you wouldn't bother with a FCU. But if you were adding it to a ring final or radial circuit then you would ususally add a FCU to protect the cable/fitting.
It depends on what your doing and what the MI state.
