Sorry guys i don't think i made myself very clear earlier. What i want to know is.........where you have two lives or neutrals from a 2.5mm ring main going into the back of a 13a wall socket, do you twist them together or leave them seperate before you tighten the securing screw.

Leave them seperate ... depending on how many cables and the make of socket you can strip the insulation back far enough and fold the cable back on itself (as mentioned in your initial question) to give a tighter connection
