Hi All.

I have Fresh wood door liners completely perfect - Filled and knotted and have primed using 1 coat of Dulux oil based wood primer.

I have Dulux water based satinwood as a top coat, which says on the back that no undercoat is required,

In my last room with fresh wood I used no undercoat and to get a decent finish I had to use 5 coats of the above water based satinwood which took ages.

Would it be ok to do an undercoat on top of the primer and then maybe 2 top coats of the above water based satinwood to get a decent finish?

If undercoat is OK what Dulux undercoat shall I get waterbased or oil bearing in mind that my final top coat is waterbased satinwood.

Many Thanks

Enjoy the rest of the weekend

hello yes that is fine to undercoat then use satin ontop of the undercoat. water based satin is never good it always needs 2 to 3 coats to get a good finish thats why i went back to oil based satin.

you can use oil or water based undercoat that is upto you.
