Toilet flush jam

Hey everybody,

I've ran into a problem with my toilet.
The button on top will no longer press down, I can flush it manually by pulling what looks like a red spring upwards, (sorry my plumbing terminology is non existent). The problem seems to be the main switch that is attached is attached to the button won't press down, even with great force.
Can anybody help me? I don't want to call out a plumber especially if theres an easy fix.

Needs new cable push button syphon, might have to call out a plumber for this one. Unless you are very good at DIY.

Put up a pic or two of your set up and someone will be able to tell you how hard.

Sounds like an ideal standard one in which case you can simply twist it and it will come out
