Toilet flush not working reliably

This inlet valve has its water feed at the bottom of the cistern. Most ball cock type valves have their water feed at the side. You need to check your ballcock valve to see which type of feed it has.

They are all bottom fed. Are the ball type better than the new style? Float value I think it’s called?

If it's bottom fed I think you may have trouble finding a ballcock type valve of this sort.

This not it?

Bottom entry Float Valves were common up until recently when the Fill Valves took over, the Dudley version you have linked to should be of good quality.

Ok would it be better to go with the fill valve instead of the float?
Your choice, personally I prefer float valves as they're easier (for me) to repair/service. Not sure if the Fill Valves can be serviced, last one I changed didn't appear to be.

So should this kit fit this toilet, specifically the siphon, as the underside of the cistern doesn’t appear to have space for the washers and nuts…

If there’s space, is it just a matter of draining the siphon and undoing the butterfly clips?

I've just retired as a plumber/heating engineer but I remember that one of my first self employed jobs after leaving college was replacing the siphon and fill valve on a close coupled toilet. It seemed that everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Don't remember how long it took but it involved a couple of trips to the plumbers merchants, water everywhere and leaks when it all went back together. Eventually got it sorted on the 3rd or 4th attempt. I did get paid but really, I should have been paying the customer for the inconvenience.
These days I could do the job in under an hour, not spill a drop of water and the toilet would work better than it ever did and be trouble free for years.
Moral of the story - Its 2 weeks since you first posted about this. The price you'll pay to have it done properly will be well worth it.
