I have push button Ideal Standard flush. After refilling, the water flow stops and then about 10 seconds later, the water flow starts again and continues to flow. Is it just a case of replacing the valve unit?

If you take the lid off the cistern you'll no doubt find that the water doesn't fully stop - when it reaches sufficient height then it will trigger the flush mechanism.

There are these possibilities:

1. Grit in the float valve assembly.
2. Worn washer in the float valve assembly.
3. Worn out float valve assembly.

The first step is to disassemble the float valve, check the washer condition and clean it out. If this is enough to cure it then great, otherwise new washer, otherwise new flat valve.
