Toilet flush

Dear all, having refurbished bathroom, flush pipe into back of pan, whilst dry, does not inspire confidence. The problem, the plumber said, is that there is a lip on the inside of where the flush pipe enters, making sealing difficult. Is there a guaranteed typ of bung, or while it's dry use sealant to beef it up. If so, what's the best?

Its hideousness doesn't matter as it's concealed, how does it work?

cant put a putty cone on a modern pan

Kevplumb, what's a putty cone so I know to avoid it. What the score with this lip. Is it the problem. The problem is the joiner is coming to box in, albeit with reasonable access should there be a problem. Is there any alternative to changing the pan?

Kevplumb what I've got is something like that but it goes staright into a hole at the back of the pan. Is this no good?

Kevplumb, the lip looks to be intentional ie smooth and about 3/8ths of an inch. As you put your finger through the flush inlet hole you can feel it on the inside. Cheers.

I've never seen one with a lip round but that isn't saying much. Does the pan come with a bush of some sort? Some do, squishy rubber ones which are quite good. Otherwise there's only these I think:

I suggest you try the connection frst - with the pan not installed. Pour a jug of water down the flush pipe and see.

I'd query the "lip" with the supplier of the pan.
