We had quite a large renovation downstairs that completed about 18 months ago. The toilet in the bathroom seemed to have a poor flush as not everything was always being flushed and it could take 2-3 flushes to go. The toilet is a back to wall in format of a unit with a hidden cistern. It is extremely difficult to get to the cistern, but we managed to make adjustments to the flush valve, which had barely any improvement. We had kind of just accepted it for the time being, but recently the fill valve began playing up and not shutting off. I thought this was a good time to just try and replace the components in the cistern for better components and have a look at the same time to see what else could be causing the issue. It was a pain with the space, but we managed to get the cistern out, old components removed and new ones fitted. Did some tests and the flush is definitely stronger, and the flush button is working a lot better too. However, tissue paper still remains after flushing and takes 2-3 times to clear.
I figured that this removes these components from the possible problem list and moved on to other areas, especially the toilet waste pipe, which I was able to get a better look at. It seems like on existing the toilet the flexi hose inclines a bit before connecting to what is our clay soil pipe I think. I am guessing this would be the problem here? I may recall the builders discussing the clay pipe back when it was being installed as being a potential problem due to its location and how it sits. The other thing I have realised is that because we have replaced all the timber floors downstairs with concreted floor, we have ended up lowering the floor level throughout the house, due to some subistence some time ago and how the house settled. This probably explains why the previous toilet (in the same location) was a bit higher and did not have this issue.
I am just trying to understand what my options are here for either fixing or trying to improve things? I've seen there are pedestal type items to raise toilets, but these don't look very nice at all. IS there anything I can do with the flexi hose to improve things? All advice welcome!
