Had several of these toilet inlets fail, they either won't open to allow in water or won't close to stop it, had to change on average once a year for last 5 years. [Concealed cistern.]
Any solutions?

Get the ball type if it would fit. I had one from wickes for £2 something without the ball and with a telescopic arm. My old one lasted forever until the outside plastic clamp nut failed. If I knew what the nut was called I would have just bought the nut for £1 something.

Perhaps try a reputable company like fluidmaster, torbeck, Thomas Dudley?

trouble with those is when you tighten them up they pull tight into the side of the cistern and cause them to jam open or shut.
having said that the majority of that type are crap , so 5 years is a fair innings.
