Drip into pan despite new washer

Hi. This thread describes how, 4 years ago, I learnt to change the washer on my WC inlet valve.

I had to do it again today but I've got a small, constant drip into the pan. I've set the float low down so as to get as much 'closing' force as possible.

Could it be that the whole unit needs replaced?

What type of wc is it? Close coupled or low level flush pipe?

Having googled some images, I'd say close coupled.

It could be the push button or the flush valve seating then. Most flush valves are bayonet type and just twist a little to release - you can sometimes get away with cleaning the seal.

Or taking it off and turning it over.

It's a new seal I've just fitted, that's why I'm perplexed as to why there's a drip. I've found this:

so maybe I'll try cleaning the filter once I get some long nose pliers.
Andy - the seal/diaphragm has a 'thing' in the centre of it, you can't turn it over.

Couldn't get the filter out. Drip continues despite new diaphgram. Sod it - just bought a new inlet unit. Job done.

Some of this thread referred to a flush valve let-by rather than an inlet valve let-by.

With an internal overflow flush valve, both of the above would result in water running into the pan but the former would be via the bottom of the flush valve, the latter via the top.

For others reading, make sure you get the diagnosis right
