Hi
I have a bathroom upstairs which has a soil stack on the outside of the house, I’m looking of replacing a downstairs toilet, which was in an outhouse attached to the house(not near current soil stack).

I'm now looking to make a hole in wall and use existing sewer access for new toilet which well be in new bathroom.

Well I have to add an air admittance valve? the old loo didn't have one and is the lowest point on the drainage system before going into soak away/tank.
Heres a rough diagram of what i'm planning

Thanks for any advice

What your doing is also controlled building work requiring a Building Notice submission, compliance with several Building Regulations (which also dictate if you can use an AAAV) & possible LABC inspection.

What need building notice? change of use of room or moving the toilet?

thanks

It has nothing to do with “change of use”; creating a new room containing a W/C is notifyable work & that is subject to several Building Regulations;

The room is part of the original house and was used as a wash house so still has drainage in place, before we moved in last year it was used as a reading room/study, also the outhouse is part of the same room just a brick partition and external door added i'm just going to use existing drainage, so I have to send notice for the loo still?

Thanks

YES, how many times do I have to say it; it matters not one iota what you have, it's what your doing now that must comply with current BR's! Please take a little time to follow & read the information on the link I’ve posted.

I’m quiet prepared to answer/advise any questions you have but I’m not prepared to waste my time if all you’re going to do is stick your head in the sand & carry on regardless. If you want to stay legit & get a certificate of compliance for what you’re doing certification, is increasingly important when you come to sell. It will cost you £100 or so, which is not a big deal.
