Hi

I'm trying to remove this toilet seat for my mum but cannot get it to come off. There are no bolts underneath and the two "buttons" on the inside of each fitting don't press in at all. I've tried to use force and just pull it off but no luck.

Any help would be appreciated!

They are not buttons, they are just the pins of the hinge part so you will get no joy with them. There must be fixings underneath the pan, can you reach around under the toilet or post an image of the side of the loo ?

The seat may be a friction push in rubber plug type fitting so you could try gently prising it upwards but stop if it looks like it will break and failing that you will need to try get your hand in to reach the nuts or uncouple the toilet from the pipework and the wall etc and get underneath it to undo the fixings. Bit of an ordeal really as it should be much easier to replace and typical of the plumbing industry to produce badly designed products.

Many toilet designs are poor in that they allow no access but the problem here is not the pan itself but the boxing behind it.
Pulling the pan away from the wall is one option but you may get away without doing it.
The hinges look like plastic so you could just cut or break them to get the seat out of the way. Careful use of a drill and you can attack the remaining hinge stubs until you can knock them through. That will allow you to fit a new seat with top fix hinges.
