I seem to have a problem in permanently removing toolbars from my pc.

I have a toolbar from an anti-virus software download, from which I gained a new toolbar - I want to keep the anti-virus software.

I have unticked the offending toolbar but it seems to reappear the next time I switch the pc on

any ideas how i remove this permanently?

A lot of free software come with the option to load toolbars/searchbars.
As it keeps returning when you reboot, does it show in the All Programs list, either as a seperate item or as part of the Antivirus program.

If you cannot shift it from there, then the best bet is to download the program again if it is free. Save to Desktop, but Do Not install it yet.
Physically disconnect from the Internet.

Using the Add/Remove section in Control Panel, remove it.
Then reinstall using the downloaded installer.
Read each page of the install and untick any reference to a toolbar before clicking to procede to the next stage of the install.
